Peru| Chinese investment. On 6 January Peru’s ambassador to China, Gonzalo Gutiérrez Reinel, said that a Chinese information technology and communications firm, Huawei, could soon set up a plant to produce high-tech products in Peru. According to Gutiérrez, Huawei directors for Latin America have told him that the company is ready to expand its operations in Peru and that the Bank of China, among others, is already looking into setting up operations in the Peruvian market.
