This week the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) made a historic announcement regarding the release of all military and police personnel held hostage for over a decade in the Colombian jungle. However, the announcement that the guerrilla group will derogate “Law 002”, approved by its central high command in 2000, will not necessarily put an end to this grisly aspect of Colombia’s recent history as the whereabouts of hundreds of servicemen remains unclear.
