HONDURAS | Theft of RPG launchers confirmed. On 8 February the Honduran armed forces acknowledged that 22 RPG-7 launchers had ‘gone missing’ from the logistical support command — in October 2010 — but added that these did not ‘represent a lethal danger’ because the full weapon has two additional parts: the grenade and the sight. The official communiqué also said that since June last year, a sergeant, Luis Alberto Sánchez, has been confined in a barracks close to Tegucigalpa, facing trial by military tribunal for desertion and theft. There was no mention of the suspected buyers nor indication that they had been recovered.
