In 2011 GDP grew 3.9%, year-on-year, according to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi). The Inegi has also produced flash economic output (Indicador Global de la Actividad Económica or Igae) figures for January 2012 which show month-on-month growth of 0.5%. What makes the January Igae figures significant is that the economy is growing despite a-near 5% (4.73%) month-on-month contraction in the primary sector.
