URUGUAY: Feeling more than OK
The Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) reported that average wages had risen 6.3%, year-on-year in January, a record for the month. Private sector wages rose 4.6%, which was 50% higher than their rate of increase in January 2011, but the average public sector wage jumped 9.4%. In 2011 consumer price inflation was 8.6%.
