COLOMBIA: All systems go

Record foreign direct investment (FDI) and strong exports are powering an economic boom. In 2011 FDI in Colombia hit a record US$14.8bn, up from US$6.8bn in 2010. This drove GDP growth in 2011 to around 6% (the final official figure is for the third quarter which shows year-on-year growth of 7.7%) and the government expects the same result in 2012.
