In Brief – Bolivia

Bolivia | Partial deal with the Cidob. On 23 April eight of the 13 regional branches of the main lowlands-based indigenous organization, Confederación de Pueblos Indígenas de Bolivia (Cidob), announced that they would not take part in the national march to protest the government’s plans to build a road through the Isiboro Sécure (Tipnis) indigenous territory and national park after reaching an agreement with the government of President Evo Morales. The Cidob had been instrumental in organizing the march which is due to begin tomorrow (25 April). The details of the agreements struck have yet to be made public.
