Farc releases police & military captives. On 2 April, in an operation coordinated by the Red Cross and the NGO Colombianas y Colombianos por la Paz (CCP), which is led by former senator Piedad Córdoba, the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) released the last four military and six police captives they had been holding, some of them for more than 14 years. President Juan Manuel Santos welcomed this move and reiterated his approval of the Farc’s 26 February commitment to abstain from any further extortive kidnapping. However, he added, ‘This is not enough. The civilian captives must be freed and their relatives should be informed about the fate of each of them.’
