‘Anarchist’ bombings continue. The bombing of two banks took place in Santiago in April, both with the same kind of device (a fire extinguisher packed with gunpowder); neither claimed victims. A Banco del Estado branch in the Macul district was hit on 9 April, causing substantial damage. A branch of the Banco de Chile was attacked on 18 April with a device powerful enough to hurl the debris of a door 100 metres. Leaflets were left at the site of the first bombing, suggesting that an anarchist group had been responsible.
