SECURITY | Farc announces intention to release Langlois. On 13 May the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) announced, through a note delivered to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), that it intends to release a French journalist, Roméo Langlois, captured during a firefight between the military and the Farc on 28 April. Jordi Raich, the ICRC’s delegation chief in Colombia, confirmed receipt of the note in which the Farc said that it would release Langlois to a commitee comprising an ICRC representative, the former Colombian senator, Piedad Córdoba, and a representative from the French government, as designated by the newly elected president, François Hollande. The Farc had previously said it would not release the “prisoner of war” Langlois without an international debate on “the freedom of reporting”.
