EL SALVADOR: Coffee exports down

According to preliminary figures from El Salvador’s coffee council, Consejo Salvadoreño del Café, El Salvador’s coffee exports fell to 114,704 60 kilo bags in April, a 50% drop on the same month the previous year. The total for the October 2011-April 2012 cycle was 693,061 bags, a 39.4% drop over the previous year. The main coffee export destinations are the US (which takes 33.5% of the total); Germany (23.4%); Japan (13.2%) and Canada (8.9%).
