Zelaya hangs up his PJs. On 18 June the ousted former president Manuel Zelaya (2006-2009) arrived back in Honduras from recent surgery in the Dominican Republic to announce his formal return to political life as coordinator of the recently incorporated Partido Libertad y Refundación (Libre). Zelaya’s wife, Xiomara Castro, will formally launch her presidential bid for Libre on 1 July, he announced. The next general election is scheduled for November 2013, ahead of which all political parties must hold internal primaries in November this year.
