DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Medina promises new ideas – from old hands

Danilo Medina took office on 16 August. After his investiture he delivered a speech and swore in his cabinet. His promise of some key policy changes was belied by the continuity of personnel, prompting speculation about whether he will be able to step out from the long shadow cast by President Leonel Fernández, who has been in power for 12 of the last 16 years.
