 PARAGUAY -BOLIVIA | US base story is revived. On 20 August the Paraguayan media published a statement by defence minister, María Liz García, to the effect that Bolivia ‘has made million-dollar investments in its armed forces with the help of Venezuela’, and that ‘we are deeply concerned because of the Bolivian military deployment in the Chaco and according to our intelligence their peers are claiming that zone with the same almost fanatic intensity  as the Argentines with the Malvinas.’
