CSJ rejects request for pre-trial proceedings against Pérez Molina. On 17 October Guatemala’s supreme justice court (CSJ) rejected a request filed by the opposition Libertad Democrática Renovada (Líder) for pre-trial proceedings against President Otto Pérez Molina and Defence Minister Ulises Anzueto for alleged extra-judicial executions in relation to the 4 October massacre, in which the military opened fire on indigenous protesters. Gabriel Medrano, the new head of the CSJ said that there was “no relation between the instructions of both officials and the unfortunate incidents”. So far nine military officials
have been arrested over the incident.
