MEXICO | Gas pipeline construction contract awarded to US firm. On 16 October Mexico’s federal electricity commission (CFE) announced that US firm, Sempra Energy, had won an international public tender process to build a 530km pipeline that will transport natural gas from a gas plant in Sásabe, Sonora to the CFE’s gas-powered electricity producing plants near the town of Guaymas, also in Sonora.
