BRAZIL | BMW opts for Santa Catarina. The vice-president of German car-manufacturer BMW, Ian Robertson, revealed last week that the firm had decided to build its first production plant in Latin America in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. BMW first expressed its desire to open a new plant in Brazil, which has become one of its most dynamic markets, in August last year, but it was undecided as to whether it would be located in Brazil’s industrial hub of São Paulo or elsewhere.
