MEXICO: Tit-for-tat tactic would challenge Peña Nieto

A revenge killing carried out by the Zetas. That was how the Coahuila state prosecutor described the murder of former governor Humberto Moreira’s son in early October, Moreira said in a radio interview last week. If this really is a new tactic being pursued by the Zetas, and other drug trafficking organisations (DTOs) in Mexico, it could heap pressure on Enrique Peña Nieto, when he assumes the presidency on 1 December, to ease back on the throttle in President Felipe Calderόn’s war on organised crime.
