Development: On 28 November a Mexican daily, Reforma, published a letter it received from ‘La Barbie’ (Edgar Valdez Villarreal), an imprisoned leader of the Beltrán-Leyva drug trafficking organisation (DTO), in which he claims that high-ranking members of Mexico’s public security ministry (SSP) formed part of his drug trafficking network.
