Dilma’s star eclipses Lula

Dilma Rousseff is the number one choice of Brazilians for the presidential election in 2014. A clear 26% spontaneously named her as their preferred candidate in a recent poll by Ibope, well above the 19% that plumped for her predecessor and patron, Lula da Silva (2003-2010). Brazilians want continuity above all – four out of every five respondents that expressed a preference went for either Dilma or Lula — and only a severe economic or judicial setback between now and 2014 would knock Dilma off pole position, say political pundits.
