New Argentine ambassador to US

Argentina: On 17 December Argentina’s foreign ministry announced that President Cristina Fernández had appointed Cecilia Nahón, 36, as ambassador to the US, replacing Jorge Argüello, who has been transferred to the embassy in Portugal. Nahón, an economist who had been working at the foreign ministry’s secretariat for foreign relations, is a close ally of deputy economy minister, Axel Kicillof, and like him rose up the political ladder through the ranks of the Kirchnerista youth movement, La Cámpora.
