SECURITY: EPN’s alternative security strategy
In the 2012 election campaign Enrique Peña Nieto promised that as president he would modify the security strategy adopted by his predecessor Felipe Calderón (2006-2012) so as to halt the surge in violence in the country resulting from Calderón’s frontal ‘war’ on organised crime and “restore peace” to the country.
