ARGENTINA-URUGUAY | Pulp mill clean. The Universidad de Buenos Aires released a report last week concluding that the pulp mill of the Finnish company Botnia, at the root of a longstanding conflict between Argentina and Uruguay, is non-contaminating and that the quality of air is within international standards. The analysis was carried out by the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences on behalf of the municipality of Gualeguaychú, the epicentre of the Argentine protests on the opposite banks of the River Uruguay from the pulp mill. The measurements were taken between 4 September 2007 and 13 January 2008 before and after the pulp mill came on-stream.
