Promoting intra-regional trade
Newsflow from companies that are operating across Latin America and the Caribbean went through a seasonal lull over Christmas and the New Year. Nevertheless, much of the deal-making that took place was consistent with two themes, both of which can be linked to the positive developments that we discuss in the Regional Economic Review and the Regional Policy Review sections. The first of these themes is the growth of intra-regional trade. The second is the promotion and encouragement of foreign investment in major mineral and energy projects.
