Stuart secures second term for DLP in Barbados

The Democratic Labour Party (DLP), led by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, won a second term in power in very closely contested elections in Barbados on 21 February. The DLP held off the challenge of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) and Stuart’s three-term predecessor Owen Arthur, but with a reduced majority in parliament. As such Stuart’s DLP avoided becoming the first one-term party in Barbadian electoral history.
