In an improbable acknowledgement of her own political mortality, President Cristina Fernández, told congress on 1 March that she will not seek to change the constitution to facilitate a third consecutive terms of office. “No constitution is going to be reformed, you can all relax,” she said, during her annual state of the union address in which she focused on her plans to “democratize” the justice system. Not all of her supporters, however, have given up on the idea of persuading the president to run again.
