BRAZIL: New ‘strategic borders’ op is announced

President Dilma Rousseff has announced a new ‘mega-operation’ along Brazil’s borders in May, just before the country hosts the Confederations Cup. She reported that already the ‘strategic borders plan’ she launched just over a year and a half ago has resulted in the disruption of 65 gangs engaged in drug trafficking, smuggling and other illegal crossborder activities.
