VENEZUELA | Confronting scarcity. Food & agriculture minister Félix Osorio, announced on 13 May that within days Venezuela would be receiving 760,000 tonnes of foodstuffs, costing US$600m, to build up the first month of a supply of food reserves. The goods in question include edible oils, milk, sugar and canned tuna. Osorio said this shipment was the result of agreements reached in President Nicolás Maduro’s recent tour of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.
