BRAZIL: PSDB unites behind Neves

Over the weekend, the Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira (PSDB) elected Senator Aécio Neves as party president for 2013-2015. His victory, by a landslide, opens the way for his candidacy in the 2014 presidential election. Given President Dilma Rousseff is already in campaign mode, and remains highly popular, the PSDB has its work cut out, but the early election of Neves, and his backing by prominent party leaders, gives the party a good opportunity to communicate its political message in plenty of time.
