PANAMA: Martinelli benefits from new opposition alliance
The recent agreement struck between the opposition Cambio Democrático
(CD) and Partido Panameñista (PP), ahead of May's general elections, is already
paying off for the CD presidential candidate, Ricardo Martinelli. An opinion
poll published shortly after the alliance was sealed last week showed the
supermarket magnate significantly increasing his lead over the candidate for the
ruling Partido Revolucionario Democrático (PRD), Balbina Herrera.
