COSTA RICA: Arias shields economy from global slowdown
The government launched a rescue package this week designed to
protect the economy from the worst of the global slowdown. Plan Escudo (Shield
Plan) is an all-encompassing initiative to kickstart the economy by boosting
spending on public works projects, provide incentives for small and medium size
business (Pymes) and offer a range of social protection measures.
