Development: According to 23 July press reports, Paraguay’s ambassador to the US, Fernando Pfanni Caballero, told the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) that Paraguay was ready to reincorporate into the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), from which it was politically suspended in July 2012, but would place strong new emphasis on forging bilateral commercial relations with third countries and other regional trade blocs like the Pacific Alliance.
