Franchising sees double-digit growth

Franchising is big in Latin America. At a time of some uncertainty, when the regional economy is growing in the low single digits, the total number of franchisees is increasing at significantly above 10% per annum. Enthusiasts for this business model note that it provides a relatively low-capital, low-risk way into the market for budding entrepreneurs. The big international franchisors are very active, but so too are some powerful homegrown brands.
