ARGENTINA: Court nullifies Tucumán elections
Late on 16 September the administrative appeals court in the northern province of Tucumán nullified the results of the gubernatorial elections held on 23 August, amid allegations of fraud. It is the first time since the restoration of democracy in 1983 that an election of this importance has been declared null and void. Although the decision will very likely to appealed by the government, the ruling will lead to renewed questions over the security and transparency of the general elections to be held on 25 October.
