Bolivia’s special anti-drugs force (Felcn) reported on 13 September that since the beginning of the year it had seized 33 aircraft used to transport drugs, six more than in the whole of 2014. Most of the seizures were made in the last three months, in operations that focused mainly on Beni department, north of La Paz department and in Santa Cruz department. Felcn director, Santiago Delgadillo, said that most of the clandestine airstrips found and destroyed this year had been built on private estates or on government lands located in rural areas. Of the aircraft seized, 15 were destroyed in the course of the on-ground interdiction operations.
