COLOMBIA: Mockus capitalises on Santos' travails

With just weeks to go before presidential elections on 30 May, the startlingly swift climb up the polls of Antanas Mockus, a former mayor of Bogotá, has completely changed the complexion of the contest. According to polls, Mockus has now eclipsed Juan Manuel Santos, the candidate for the Partido de la U and clear frontrunner only one month ago - and not only in the first round, where the Uribista vote is split, but also in a second-round scenario.
