PERU | Sendero. Abimael Guzmán, the imprisoned founder of the guerrilla group Sendero Luminoso, and his long-time companion Elena Iparraguirre will be permitted to marry, the justice minister, Ví­ctor Garcí­a Toma, announced this week. They will not be able to meet, however, as this privilege is only extended to prisoners whose partner is on the outside, Garcí­a Toma said. The two prisoners staged a three-day hunger strike in late April to demand that they be allowed to wed [WR-10-16].
