PERU-PARAGUAY | Lugo visits. President Alan Garcí­a entertained his Paraguayan peer Fernando Lugo in Lima on 6 July. Lugo pledged his full support for Garcí­a's five-year plan for a reduction in arms spending - devoting the savings to eradicating poverty - which he has presented before the Union of South American Nations (Unasur). “While one South American goes hungry, no arms race can possibly be justified," Lugo said, adding that Paraguay invested less on arms than any other country in the region.
