Colombia: Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) has reported that the country’s exports totalled US$17.46bn in the first half of the year, a 20.4% increase from US$14.49bn exported during the same period in 2016. The new Dane figures represent a significant recovery in foreign sales this year, after these fell by 25.1% in June 2016. The figures also show that exports of fuels and products of extractive industries grew 33.1% between January and June, totalling US$9.17bn, on the back of a 24.2% increase in exports of oil and oil derivative products. Foreign sales in June alone reached US$2.77bn, a rise of 0.8% compared to June 2016. The US was the main destination for Colombian exports in the first half of 2017 receiving 30% of the total exports.
