* Finance Minister José Antonio Meade Kuribreña has announced that the federal government has approved the disbursement of the first M$4.5bn (US$248m) for the reconstruction efforts in central and southern areas of the country affected by earthquakes earlier this month. Meade’s announcement comes after President Enrique Peña Nieto revealed the previous day that, on preliminary official estimates, the total cost of the reconstruction efforts could be as high as M$38bn. Meade also calculated that the emergency response to the natural disasters had cost the federal government some M$2bn.
