In brief: Brazil

* The agriculture ministry has announced that after two years of negotiations Brazil has been granted permission to export milk and dairy products to Japan. This was authorised after Brazil obtained an International Sanitary Certificate, allowing it to export milk and dairy products to areas free from foot-and-mouth disease. Japan is the world’s seventh largest dairy importer (for products such as milk, powdered milk, cheese, and butter), with imports worth US$1.2bn in 2016.
