BRAZIL: Rousseff contains demands from allied parties

President Dilma Rousseff has put pressure on two of her ministers, Orlando Silva and Carlos Lupi, whose parties, the Partido Comunista do Brasil (PCdoB) and Partido Democrático Trabalhista (PDT), respectively, are demanding more space in her administration. A corruption scandal in Silva's sports ministry and the refusal of PDT congressmen to vote in favour of the government's 2011 minimum wage proposal served as perfect excuses for Rousseff to withstand demands from the two allied parties.
