In brief: Mexico

* The federal energy ministry (Sener) will hold its first tender for a M$20.87bn (US$1.1bn) transmission line which connects the northern state of Baja California with the rest of Mexico. The 1,400km line will run from Mexicali in Baja California state to Hermosilla, in the Northern state of Sonora. This will be the first time that a private company will be allowed to build and operate a transmission line in Mexico following 80 years of state monopoly.
