BRAZIL: Beefing up the border

The new justice minister, José Eduardo Cardozo, is beefing up border security, with a major focus on the long porous frontiers with coca-producing neighbours Bolivia and Peru, and Paraguay. The government is stepping up its efforts amid increasing domestic drug consumption and transnational crime, led by Brazil's best known local organised groups.
