There are no limits to the potential for integration between Peru,
Chile, Colombia and Mexico, Peru's President Alan García insisted while praising
the launch of his re-branded “Pacific Arc" brainchild on 28 April with his peers
Sebastián Piñera, Juan Manuel Santos and Felipe Calderón respectively. It was
somewhat ironic that the Pacific Alliance, the objective of which is to deepen
integration between the four countries on all fronts, should have been approved
in the same week that Peru recognised its maritime limits with Ecuador, while
underlining its determination to win a case before the International Court of
Justice at The Hague to establish new maritime limits with Chile.
