In brief: Brazil

*The Brazilian government has announced that it will include 14 new projects in its planned public tender processes for this year. Ronaldo Fonseca, the secretary general of the presidency, said that the federal government plans to auction off concessions for the construction of 4,807km of new electricity transmission lines, 515km of roads, 53km of railways, and for the exploration and exploitation of four deepwater oil blocks before the current administration led by President Michel Temer leaves office in January 2019. Fonseca added that the government’s objective is to offer concessions for a total of 80 new projects this year, which it calculates will require a total investment of some R$136bn (US$35bn).
