*Brazil’s foreign ministry (Itamaraty) has announced that the government will seek to sign new cooperation agreements in the areas of commercial aviation and technology in the upcoming heads of state meeting of the Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (Brics) bloc of leading emerging economies. Confirming President Michel Temer’s attendance at the meeting which will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 25-27 July, an Itamaraty statement said that Temer’s main objective would be to sign a new memorandum of understanding to promote information exchanges on best practices, regulatory frameworks, and technical cooperation in the commercial aviation area between the five Brics members. In addition, President Temer will also propose the creation of a “network of technological & science parks” in the Brics countries so that small and medium-sized scientific firms focused on new technologies can work together.
