The US-Colombia free trade agreement at six: is Colombia benefitting?

The US-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement, a comprehensive free trade agreement (FTA), turned six years old on 15 May 2018. Originally agreed in 2006 by the two countries (at the time led by US president George W Bush [2001-2009] and Colombia’s Álvaro Uribe [2002-2010]) it took a further six years to take effect. Here we revisit some of the concerns surrounding its approval and the impact that it has had on Colombia.
