In brief: Mexico

* Mexico’s foreign ministry (SRE) and its economy ministry (SE) have signed an agreement to promote exports and attract foreign direct investment (FDI). This is in response to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s instructions to his cabinet to prioritise the promotion and growth of Mexico’s export sector as a way of stimulating domestic economic activity. According to an official statement released by both ministries, the agreement signed by the SRE and the SE outlines a strategy for promoting Mexico’s economy worldwide with a focus on integrating Mexican businesses into the global value chain, especially micro-, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
