Venezuela: Chipping away at Maduro

As advertised, Venezuela’s opposition-controlled National Assembly (AN), newly re-energised under the leadership of Juan Guaidó, on 15 January formally declared Nicolás Maduro to be usurping the presidency. Maduro took office for a second six-year term on 12 January, following a blatantly stage-manged early election in May 2018 that over 60 countries refused to recognise.
